A similar textbook, published by the RUDN University for students of West African countries in 2016, gained wide popularity and recognition among teachers and students and inspired Sri Lankan teachers of the Russian language to create a similar textbook that would reflect country specifics and bring together the Russian and Ceylon cultural contexts due to the wide range of presented facts of life.

The participants in the round table at the Russian Centre discussed the possibilities and prospects of developing such a textbook for Sri Lanka, agreeing that it would definetely be in demand at all levels of the Russian language teaching, and outlined an action plan.

It is expected that by the end of this year the textbook will be published and available to a wide Sri Lankan audience.
