Presentation of Russian higher education and the prospects of studying the Russian language with participation of RUDN delegation

From November 20 to 22, at the Russian Centre in Colombo there was organized a set of presentation events highlighting the opportunities provided by learning the Russian language, multiple international activities of educational organizations of the Russian Federation and the prospects of obtaining higher education at Russian universities. A number of training seminars, lectures and interactive presentations  for Sri Lankans studying Russian as a foreign language were performed by the members of the delegation of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, who arrived in Sri Lanka to hold the "Russian Language Days" with the support of the Foundation “Russkiy mir” and the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office.

The events were attended by participants from all over the island: students of the Russian language division of the modern languages department of the humanities faculty of the University of Kelaniya, members of the Russian Club, students of the Russian Centre language courses and private courses in the cities of Colombo, Negombo, Hikkaduwa and others, as well as students studying Russian at school in Balangoda and Anuradhapura.

At the end of the series of events, the Russian Centre in Colombo hosted a traditional get-together meeting of the RUDN alumni, who in total make more than five hundred people in Sri Lanka. The RUDN graduates of different years took part in the solemn meeting, watched with interest the presentation film about the modern days of the RUDN University, noting how their alma mater had changed over the years, got a thorough look at the photo exhibition, and recalled classic Soviet cinema watching the "Twelve Chairs" film. The event was held in warm and friendly atmosphere and culminated in a lively discussion with members of the RUDN University delegation at a Russian-style buffet.
