On May 14, at the invitation of Kursk State Medical University, the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Sri Lanka participated in the IV International Scientific and Methodological Online Conference “Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages and Russian for foreigners: Traditions and Innovations".
The conference was attended by more than 15 speakers from leading universities and the Russian language centers both in Russia and abroad, including Belarus, Malaysia, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka.
The main topics of the conference were the problems of teaching foreign languages and Russian as a foreign language and the possibility of implementing modern educational models, providing an increase in the quality of their study, exchange of professional experience to develop mechanisms for using new forms and methods of teaching foreign languages and Russian as a foreign language, as well as attracting attention of domestic and foreign specialists, educational institutions and international organizations to the problems associated with the current status of the Russian language and its promotion in the world.
The head of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Sri Lanka, Anastasia Khokhlova, spoke on the Russian language in Sri Lanka, outlining the main achievements, features and current challenges, as well as the available developments in solving the problems in this area.
Teachers of the Russian language classes of the Russian Centre in Colombo Olga Afonina, Taisiya Druzhinina, Venurika Jayasinghe and Ruvan Peduruarachchige also took an active part in the conference and the subsequent discussion.
